Choice of elastomer invariably hinges on the balance of properties offered. Since properties are interdependent, it’s important to understand the effect of one upon the other. Our guide includes an easy reference chart for the three groups of these interdependent relationships (defined as compatible, incompatible and random properties). For instance, if you want impact-resistance, you can expect an increase in elongation, a decrease in modulus and no predictable effect on low temperature.

By investing time in understanding elastomer terminology, you can make more informed decisions to improve product performance and reduce the risk of costly errors.
